The Healey Home was officially opened to the public on the 24th November 2012 by Chairman Hans van de Kerkhof, together with Bic Healey and Gerry Coker.
Over 120 guests attended the event and received a Power Point presentation about the early activities of Donald Healey in the Royal Air Corps during WW I. The rarely known facts were revealed by Bill Emerson from the United States, the museum special guest. Bill passed on to the Healey Home a few pieces of memorabilia that enriched the whole exhibition:
- Three models of airplanes coinciding with Donald Healey's flying years.
- Painting of Donald Healey now destined to hang on a special spot in the Healey Museum.
It is worth remembering, that from the museum's early days Denis Welch Motorsport, is one of the major sponsors who's contribution helps to preserve the engineering and cultural heritage of Donald M. Healey.
The museum is host to a range of special cars on display, historical documents, memorabilia and archive film footage all providing a very interesting insight into the life and work of Donald Healey.
Jeremy and Melanie Welch were honoured to have been invited to the museum's anniversary along with many other friends and sponsors from the Healey community, and took part in general festivities. It was a professionally organized event giving all guests the opportunity to build up friendships and feel part of the exclusive group of Healey people.
Congratulations to the Healey Museum Team! As predicted the museum flourishes from year to year as a place which should be firmly on every Healey enthusiasts bucket list.
