Masters Gentlemen Drivers
No less than 45 classic GTs competed in the race on Sunday afternoon. Mark Pangborn entered his Lightweight E-Type with co-driver Jeremy Welch. A great qualifying session achieved a stunning 2:55 lap, placing them 10th on the grid. The final race of Sunday being 90 mins, was for Jeremy and Mark extremely enjoyable, they were battling against their team members as well as other racers, with a great, dynamic race they finished in a very credible 6th place. Galal Mahmoud with Nigel Greensall after qualifying in 9th place, finished 13th overall completing 23 laps in their Jaguar E-type.
Nils-Fredrik Nyblaeus and Jeremy Welch achieved 23rd overall and 4th in class in Nils-Fredrik's Austin-Healey 3000!
Spa Six Hours Endurance
The headline race was the 360-minute historic endurance race for touring and sports cars built before 1965. With around 106 cars participating, team Allan Ross-Jones/Joe Ward/Richard Bull in KVS, qualified in a high 29th position, finishing the race in 63rd place overall, completing 82 laps. Unfortunately for Tony Worthington/Mark Midgley/Nils-Fredrik Nyblaeus, their Austin-Healey 3000 had a gearbox failure during the race. The gearbox was hurriedly replaced by DWM Team but this "cost" the racers 1 hour and 20 minutes in the pits, so they finished 70th.
Woodcote Trophy
A combined grid of 55 classic sports cars drove a single sixty minute race on Saturday. The three Austin Healey's of Nils-Frederik Nyblaeus, Martyn Corfield and Ian Montgomery entered the Woodcote Trophy. Nils-Fredrik by improving his lap times during the race, finished in 31st place after qualifying 42nd. Martyn Corfield in his Healey 100/4 achieved a high 29th position. The Team, Ian and Bruce Montgomery finished the race in 51st place completing 13 laps, after spending 13 mins in the pits for a half shaft change!
