Qualifying was late on the Friday afternoon with dry, sunny weather. The Welch team qualified in 10th position to start from fifth row in the Saturday race. Jeremy Welch was out first in the rain to set the benchmark time for the team in the challenging Autosport 3 Hour Race. During the safety car, Jeremy handed the Healey over to Denis, for his first 70 minutes. In the second hour Jeremy Welch moved up from tenth to an amazing second position, driving from lap to lap in changing wet to dry weather. Denis took the car for the last 20 minutes, after an extra pit stop and flew in KVS484 on a difficult wet, oily track.
Team Denis and Jeremy Welch finished 2nd overall and 1st in class!
Tony Worthington who shared his Healey 3000 with new boys - Simon Drinkall and Russ Lindsay had a great time!
Simon and Russ were out for the first time, so their aim was to enjoy the race and gain experience with no preasure to win. Team Worthington/Drinkall/Lindsay with drivers changing every 30 minutes, achieved respectable lap times to finish the race on a good 21st position.
Once again, Denis Welch Motorsport had the pleasure to prepare the cars and support both teams during this exciting event. The successful 2014 meeting was organised by the HSCC and GTSCC. The organisers invited Mr Jack Sears who fifty years ago, in 1964 won the 3 Hour Race at Snetterton. He was present to take part in price giving ceremony and share his memories with drivers and motorsport fans. Thank you all for an enjoyable weekend!
