On the first Sunday in October 1998,enthusiasts all over Australia were settling down for the one day in the year when they monopolised the family TVset, a bit wary that the thunder of the V8s was to be replaced by the buzz of two-litre touring cars. However they soon cheered up when already in the support race they were treated to one of the greatest duels seen on the Mountain in the Healey International Commemorative Race.
The race proved to be a real battle between the Europeans and Australians, the race would eventually be won by Denis Welch driving is Austin Healey 3000, 6200 NO.
