Jaguar Classic Challenge
The duo of Julian Thomas and Calum Lockie took their second consecutive race victory in the Jaguar Classic Challenge by just two-tenths of a second in their Denis Welch Motorsport prepared Low Drag E-Type Coupe. Thomas and Lockie qualified on pole – their second of the 2016 campaign and just like the first round at Donington a few weeks ago, adverse weather added to the race. With 3 corners to go Thomas lay third but, the car came through the slippery conditions to take the win.
After the race, Julian Thomas said: "It's absolutely fantastic to win here at Silverstone and it was a joy going wheel-to-wheel with my fellow competitors. It is easily one of the most exciting races I've been involved in."
GT and Sports Car Cup
The Austin Healey 3000 of Jeremy Welch and Martyn Corfield finished 7th overall, once again taking victory in the GT3 class. The Jaguar E-Type of Julian Thomas and Calum Lockie had led from the start but unfortunately lost the lead under the safety car, taking victory from them. The freshly rebuilt Austin Healey 3000 of Tony Worthington and Co-Driver Mark Midgely finished in 20th place.
