The Austin DS5 6 cylinder 4.0 Ltr engine, is very similar in design, to the 2.66 Ltr 4 cylinder Austin engine used in the Healey 100 and A90 Atlantic. The DS5 was used in the Jensen 541, 541R and 541S as well as in the early Jensen Interceptor.

Our Austin DS5 Aluminium Cylinder Heads are the best and only ones on the market!
After 18 years of successfully producing Austin-Healey aluminium cylinder heads, we are pleased to launch the Austin DS5 version. We went back to the drawing board and started with completely new CAD drawings to ensure perfect accuracy, matched profiling and perfect detailing. From these drawings we fully CNC machine each head in our own factory - start to finish.
The Austin DS5 6 cylinder 4.0 Ltr engine, is very similar in design, to the 2.66 Ltr 4 cylinder Austin engine used in the Healey 100 and A90 Atlantic. The DS5 was used in the Jensen 541, 541R and 541S as well as in the early Jensen Interceptor.
Available in 3 versions, so whether you require a Standard, Fast Road or Bare head, there really is no better or more up to date version on the market today.
The Standard and Fast Road Heads come fully assembled with our Austin-Healey valves, guides, springs, top caps etc. All these components are also available to purchase for the Bare Head. The head is directly interchangeable for the Standard.
All are supplied with rocker and manifold stud kits.

Steel crankshaft for the Austin DS5 engine.
Designed by our CAD team, made from EN40B steel and Nitride hardened, these will provide the ultimate performance and reliability and are currently the only steel crankshafts available. Having the original stroke and using standard main bearings, the crankshaft has 12 matching counterweights for better performance and balance. Ground rear seal to suit our rear main seal kit CENG590. 4 or 8 bolt fly wheel fitting for increased strength.
Please note that this crankshaft can only be used with our steel conrods. Part number YCENG432R
When fitting this kit it will require some machining to the crankshaft and cylinder block so therefore can only be fitted during a total engine rebuild. Although full instructions are supplied it is recommended that this kit is fitted by us or a qualified engineer. (A 4.2mm Drill & M5 Tap is also required).
It is worth spending the money as, when fitted correctly, it really does stop those annoying oil leaks!

Our Die Cast Pistons are made specially for us by Omega, Britain's leading competition piston manufacturer. They have a dish of 14CC which will give a compression ratio of approximately 8.5:1, providing the cylinder head and block have not been skimmed.
Being lighter and having a better design than the original they are not only stronger for performance use but are also quieter for road use. We have used metric sizes in order to take advantage of the latest ring technology and reduce crank case pressure.
They are supplied with gudgeon pins to suit standard clamp conrods (gudgeon pins for fully floating rods are available to order).
The sizes stated are the actual bore sizes, all clearances have been allowed for on the piston.
Please note that these are supplied as a set of 4. You will need 1 1/2 sets for your Jensen.

These are H-Beam style made to our drawings and specification by Britain's leading manufacturer, with conventional fully floating little ends and can therefore only run with pistons that contain circlip grooves (i.e. our pistons CENG409, CENG410, CENG411 and CENG409F).
These are considerably lighter and stronger than standard ones. They are only suitable for use with a standard crankshaft with standard type big end bearings.
