The first Swedish Historic Rally took place from 7th-10th of February through the winter forests of Sweden, alongside the WRC.
The decision to introduce a historical class was a tribute to all those who, over the years, helped to make the Swedish World Championship rally a true classic.
Nigel Rose and Petter Vegel put on a great display in their blue 1961 Austin Healey 3000 Mk1, much to the delight of those in attendance, who watched as the oldest car in the rally slid around the course and the engine roared through the forests.
The Rally began with exhibition driving in Karlstad on Thursday, followed by Vargåsen 1 on the Friday, the stage with the world-famous crest named after Colin McRae. Late Friday they returned to Karlstad for the Super Special Stage, before two loops of Sagen, Fredriksberg, Rammen and Hagfors Sprint on the Saturday.
In total Nigel and Petter put their Healey through a challenging 84 kilometres of competitive rallying stages, finishing with a total time of 1:10:41. 5.
The Healey was sporting a full Denis Welch Race Engine on triple Webers with spiked tyres, with many spectators surprised by just how fast the Healey could drive on the snow and ice.
